Knives for sculpting Chinese shui xian hua
This is a stainless rendering of two of the traditional styles of knife.  The one with the oblique blade has the small gouge on the end. The other, with the straight blade (the curved side is blunt) has a flat probe for separating stems. This set is just right for the beginner.

These are amazing knives.  When you hold one, you feel the energy of the man who hand crafted it.  It was made by the late craftsman, Zhan Delai, near Zhangzhou.  It's made from wrought, hand forged steel.  The handle is square and hefty for this kind of knife. The blade is straight and the gouge is just the right size for sculpting behind and at the base of shui xian hua stems.

This is a hand forged knife made by one of the most respected living shui xian hua artists in Zhangzhou, the home of the bulb.  De Ning fashioned this knife with a square handle to give an unusual degree of control when you cut.  It has the flat blade and a longer than usual chizel end.
